The Book of Revelations Chapter 17

As we already discussed the 3 women mentioned in revelations are not women but all symbols of something else as this women is representing the fall of Babylon.

The Babylonian religion existed long before Christianity and, in some ways, imitated the story of the coming Messiah. According to ancient traditions, it was founded by Semiramis, the wife of Nimrod (the great-grandson of Noah). Semiramis was a high priestess who promoted idol worship. She gave birth to a son named Tammuz, whom she claimed was conceived miraculously.

Tammuz was regarded as a saviour figure. Many ancient artifacts show Semiramis holding the infant Tammuz—imagery that predates Christianity. According to legend, Tammuz was killed by a wild animal but was later brought back to life.

In Canaan, he became known as Baal—the Canaanite name for Tammuz.

(1-2) As she sits on many waters this is to show that she will have power over many nations, and this is also the unification of all false religions’ becoming one interfaith. Something already that the pope and King Charles are keen to see happen as both have claimed all roads lead to god. The idea of immorality often has strong associations throughout the Bible with idolatry. Since this is a well-accepted religious system, it is likely to appear as attractive and spiritual, though not necessarily moral.

The people will be drunk with her wine, Karl Marx (German philosopher and atheist)  was partly right when he said, “Religion is the drug of the masses.” He was partly right because empty religion is the drug of the masses as it makes them feel safe without having to do anything to change their lives.

(3) The harlot  or false prophet rides the same beast (seven heads and ten horns) that was previously seen in Revelation 13:1 – the Antichrist and his dictatorship. Her position, that of riding the beast, indicates on the one hand that she is supported by the political power of the beast, and on the other that she is in a dominant role and at least outwardly controls and directs the beast. Her association with blasphemy and the dragon’s beast is clearly seen from God’s perspective. But to the people of the earth, she will look quite religious and have the empty religion  that everybody wants.

(4) Purple was the colour of the rich as the dye to make fabric this colour is rare and costly.

(5) Roman prostitutes frequently wore a headband with their name engraved upon it, so they could be requested for again.

(6) The woman not only persecutes, but she is also celebrating in her persecution of the godly as a drunk revels in wine.

 (7) Why is John amazed? Because this isn’t pagan persecution, but religious persecution. This is a false-church, thirsty for the blood of the saints. False religion is always the worst enemy of true religion.

(8) The beast is the antichrist of chapter 13.

 (9) The 7 hills have frequently led to people saying this is Rome as it is built on 7 hills so there for the Roman Catholic Church will be responsible for bringing the Antichrist forth. But in the Bible mountains are sometimes a figure of governments Daniel 2 and the city of Rome is built on hills, not mountains. And even if the Catholic church has much to do with this it will be bigger than them as it will be worldwide event.

Indications about Roman Catholicism’s ultimate partnership with a one-world religion are evident in Pope John Paul II’s bizarre involvement with and approval of other anti-Christian religions.

In a prayer gathering of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists and others. The Pope pledged that “the Catholic Church intends to ‘share in and promote’ such inter-religious cooperation.”

The Catholic Review commented on this and said, “a day may come when the love and compassion which both Buddha and Christ preached so eloquently will unite the world in a common effort to save humanity”

(10) This is one of the more difficult passages in the Book of Revelation, to try to understand as it again depends on your view of the book as a whole.

Five have fallen refers to the five world empires before John’s Day: Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia,  Medo-Persia, and Greece.

One refers to the world empire of John’s Day: Rome

The other has not yet come refers to the one world empire to come.

OR

if you take the historical view point it could mean kings from Biblical history.

(11) This seventh will quickly be taken over by an eighth – and that will be the Antichrist who then rules.

(12-14) This probably means a ten-nation confederation and is commonly regarded as a new Europe as the EU itself claims to be a successor to the ancient Roman Empire. The EEC started in 1957, when six European nations met to talk about combining their nuclear, coal, and economic resources. They met together in Rome and signed the treaty of Rome.

Whatever their exact identity, their actions are clear. They join with the Antichrist in the war against Christ, in the battle spoken of in the sixth and seventh bowls

(15) This tells us that the Antichrists influence is worldwide, through connection to the beast. This will be a truly one-world religion.

(16) This violence probably takes place at the mid-point of the tribulation period. Here, the false religion discovers the true nature of the beast. Once his power has been consolidated, the Antichrist no longer needs the help of religious Babylon. He will then work to dismantle and destroy it and the one-world religion. Ultimately, the Antichrist will not tolerate any worship except of himself.

(17) Another reminder that God is still fully in control and everything is happening as He planned.  God will sometimes use a wicked group (here, the ten kings) to be an instrument of His judgment against another wicked group (here, false prophet).

(18) Again, this is presumed to be Rome as in Johns Day this was the worlds capital, but its more symbolic as today idolatry and sin are wide spread and now many cites have power over world events from London and New York’s stock markets to the factory cites that are now appearing in the far East.
